UN considers Ukraine's needs to restore decentralized energy system

The parties focused on the situation in the energy sector. Denys Shmyhal spoke about Ukraine’s needs for equipment to restore and develop the decentralised system.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of de-occupying the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and returning it to Ukraine’s control to stop russia’s nuclear terror.

They also discussed food security and the export of Ukrainian grain, acknowledging the importance of supporting the Grain from Ukraine initiative.

“Nuclear and food security are among the points of the President of Ukraine’s Peace Formula. We urge you to contribute to its implementation,” the Prime Minister said.

Another important topic of the meeting was humanitarian demining. Denys Shmyhal stressed that the UN could help in supplying the necessary equipment.

The Head of Government thanked the UN General Assembly for supporting resolutions favouring Ukraine, as well as for funding humanitarian projects, including the restoration of critical infrastructure. He stressed the importance of support in restoring the homes of Ukrainians. He also expressed hope that the number of joint projects would be expanded.
